May 30 (Renewables Now) - Global Energy Services (GES), a Spanish renewables contractor, completed in May the construction of the 38-MWp Kambul solar photovoltaic (PV) farm in the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.

GES said that the solar farm was currently undergoing a trial and that the plant is expected to come into operation in the coming weeks. Its annual output is estimated at 60 GWh. GES worked on the project as an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor.

The Kambul project was one of the winners in Mexico’s first long-term energy auction in 2016. It was proposed by renewable energy firm Alter Enersun SA of Spain’s CL Grupo Industrial, to which GES also belongs.
