April 9 (Renewables Now) - The renewables arm of US conglomerate General Electric Co (NYSE:GE) said today it will supply turbines for a 100-MW wind project developed by a Mass Global unit in Jordan.

GE Renewable Energy and its consortium partner Elecnor will build the so-called Mass wind park under an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) deal. The GE subsidiary will provide its latest generation of 3.6-137 wind turbines for the project, which is its first in the country, according to the announcement.

The wind park should be completed by the end of next year. It will have the capacity to generate enough power to supply over 150,000 homes.

The Kingdom of Jordan has committed to increase the share of renewables in its total energy mix to 11% and drive local energy production to 39% as part of its Vision 2025 strategy.
