Egypt, Slovenia discuss green power cooperation
Aug 17, 2022 13:06 CESTJuly 28 (Renewables Now) - First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR) will supply 2.4 GW direct current (DC) of thin-film photovoltaic (PV) modules to existing customer Intersect Power LLC in the period 2024-2026.
Intersect Power is a clean energy developer and repeat customer of First Solar. In 2019 and 2021, it placed orders with the same supplier for a total of 4.1 GW DC of solar panels. The developer intends to use the new batch for deployment in its solar, storage and green hydrogen projects that will be realised across the US in 2025-2027.
First Solar said it will manufacture a large proportion of the modules at its facility in Northwest Ohio. In this region, the company is currently expanding its total annual capacity to 6 GW by building its third US factory in Lake Township. The new plant is expected to be commissioned in the first six months of next year.
Through an expansion in the US and India and optimisation of its existing fleet, First Solar seeks to double its nameplate manufacturing capacity to 16 GW in 2024.
