March 25 (Renewables Now) - Montevideo-based investor Ficus Capital has acquired Sol de Bermejo, an 18-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project that will be built in the Argentine province of La Rioja.

The vendors were Uruguayan consultancy and developer SEG Ingenieria and German wind power company EAB New Energy GmbH, Ficus Capital said without providing financial details on the transaction. SEG Ingenieria will remain linked to the project and collaborate with Ficus Capital on further development.

Sol de Bermejo was assigned priority dispatch by Argentina’s wholesale electric market administrator CAMMESA under the renewable energy market framework locally known as MATER. The solar park will be connected to the grid through the Villa Union substation, while commercial operations are expected to commence in the summer of 2020.
