Engie's Solairedirect wins 23 MW of solar in Mexico, 75 MW in India

French utility Engie (EPA:ENGI) said today that its Solairedirect unit has won solar power purchase agreements (PPAs) for 23 MW in Mexico and 75 MW in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Solairedirect won the project in Mexico’s Baja California state with a competitive tariff of USD 48.00 (EUR 42.54) per MWh in the country’s first long-term nationwide electricity procurement tender. This was the only award in Baja California, Engie said.

Its subsidiary was also awarded a 75-MW solar project in India’s Uttar Pradesh, in conjunction with a new 420-MW National Solar Mission tender. The scheme receives financial aid of about INR 7.4 million (USD 111,200/EUR 98,600) per MW. It will be selling its output at INR 4.43/kWh for a period of 25 years.

Engie noted that this is its first solar project in Uttar Pradesh, but it also has developments in Rajasthan, Telangana and Pendjab.
