Brazilian power utility Engie Brasil Energia SA (<a href="http://Brazilian power utility Engie Brasil Energia SA (BVMF:EGIE3) announced on Wednesday it is holding a public call for financing innovation projects focused on solutions for solar power plants. Under the InovaSolar initiative, the winning proposals will form part of a Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I) project, managed by Engie and carried out through local power sector regulator Aneel's RD&I programme. According to the company, proposals can be submitted by Science and Technology Institutes (ICTs), universities, start-ups, technology-based companies and consultancies based in Brazil. The registration is free and has a deadline by June 9, 2024. There are ten lines of research Engie is looking for, which are cleaning photovoltaic (PV) panels in large-scale solar power plants; prevention of equipment theft; vegetation control; mitigation of losses and unavailability of equipment; fire detection and prevention; improving reliability in the operation of trackers; rain and humidity monitoring for efficient cleaning; reducing curtailment; strategic standardisation for the technological recomposition; and anticipation and operational resilience in the face of extreme weather events.
