September 16 (Renewables Now) - Consulting and engineering firm Enertis has won the Owner’s Engineer role for a 100-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Oman, located about 210 km (130 miles) northeast of Thumrait.

The contract was awarded by Amin Renewable Energy Company SAOC, a Japanese-Omani consortium consisting of Marubeni Corporation (TYO:8002), Oman Gas Company SAOC and Bahwan Renewable Energy Company LLC.

The project has already entered the construction phase and is expected to be completed in May 2020. It has a 23-year power purchase agreement (PPA) under which it will supply power for the interior operations of oil and gas company Petroleum Development Oman LLC (PDO).

Enertis said it has been involved since the design phase of the project, leading and monitoring every technical-related aspect. A team deployed by the firm is supervising the construction activities.
