April 27 (Renewables Now) - Enel Green Power Chile and partner IM2 Solar Chile have reached the first milestone in an agreement to install 75 MW of solar plants under Chile's special regime for distributed generation (DG) projects, known as PMGD.

The pair has put into operation the 3-MW San Camilo solar photovoltaic (PV) power facility in the Maule region, marking the debut of the Chilean green power unit of Italian energy major Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) into the PMGD market.

In all, the companies plan to switch on a total of ten PV parks between 2021 and the beginning of 2022. Enel expects to energise the second 3-MW plant, named Proyecto Dadinco, on April 28. The asset is located in the Nuble region.

At present, PMGDs account for some 1,357 MW of clean energy in the Chilean energy system, Enel noted citing data from the Chilean National Energy Commission (CNE).
