Grupo Mexico to invest in 168-MW wind farm in Nuevo Leon
Dec 06, 2019 11:17 CESTJuly 19 (Renewables Now) - Enel Green Power submitted on Thursday the environmental impact declaration (DIA) for the 404-MW Sierra Gorda solar photovoltaic (PV) farm it plans to build in the Chilean region of Antofagasta.
According to public documents posted on the website of the Chilean environmental evaluation service (SEA), the giant PV project represents and investment of USD 400 million (EUR 356.2m).
The Sierra Gorda farm and its accompanying infrastructure will stretch across some 927.2 hectares (2,403 acres), including temporary structures and access roads, in the namesake commune in Antofagasta. The project design includes the installation of a little over a million solar panels at the site.
If the permitting stage goes according to plans, construction would start in February 2021, while operations are expected to begin in June 2022.
The renewables arm of Italy’s Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) registered ENEL Green Power del Sur SpA as the owner of the project.
