Elecnor secures EPC contract for 359-MWp solar plant in Brazil

Spanish infrastructure builder and concessionaire group Elecnor SA (BME:ENO) announced today it has won a contract to build a 359.12-MWp solar farm in Brazil.

The job was awarded to Elecnor by Latin America-focused Atlas Renewable Energy.

Elecnor will act as the turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) provider for the Lar do Sol – Casablanca project in the state of Minas Gerais. The solar farm will occupy 690 hectares (1,705 acres) of land in Pirapora town where a total of 676,000 bifacial modules will be installed. The plant is seen to be completed by end-2022.

At the beginning of May, Atlas secured a USD-150-million (EUR 123m) loan from IDB Invest and Norway's DNB Bank ASA for the construction of the particular complex.

Once in operation, the facility will supply 805 GWh per year to mining multinational Anglo American's (LON:AAL) operations in Minas Gerais. This is the largest power purchase agreement (PPA) signed with a private off-taker in Brazil and indexed to the US dollar, Atlas said previously.
