Weekly renewables M&A round-up (May 23-27)
May 27, 2022 17:26 CEST(ADPnews) - Jan 12, 2011 - Egypt will call tenders for 2,690 MW of wind projects to be developed in the next five years, Agence France Presse reported on Monday, citing the country's electricity minister Hassan Yunes.
The move is in line with Egypt's target to meet 12% of its electricity needs with wind-generated power, the news agency said.
The minister said that bids for the planned wind projects would be invited this year. Some 1,370 MW of the planned wind power capacity would be offered to the private sector.
Financing for the projects will be secured in partnership with German banks, the EU and the governments of Spain and Japan, according to Yunes.
The wind parks will be developed mainly in the Gulf of Suez.
