Ecuador's energy min names qualified bidders for wind, solar projects

November 20 (Renewables Now) - The Ecuadorian ministry of energy and non-renewable natural resources informed on Friday that nine companies or consortia have passed the pre-qualification round in its public selection process for the construction and operation of new solar and wind power infrastructure.

Eight companies qualified to bid for the construction and operation of the 200-MW El Alomo solar park in the province of Manabi, while seven were approved for the Villonaco II and III wind farms as one 110-MW project in Loja province.

The ministry expects the construction of the two projects to bring an investment of USD 400 million (EUR 361.6m) from the private sector.
