E-CL seeks to develop USD 620m solar project in northern Chile
Sep 6, 2013 - Chilean company E-CL (SCL:ECL), the largest power producer in Chile's northern grid SING, yesterday filed an environmental impact declaration for a USD 620 million (EUR 472.1m) photovoltaic project in Arica region.
The project, dubbed Pampa Camarones, consists of nearly 1.2 million panels of up to 300 MW that will be installed in several phases during four years. The plant will be connected to a new substation which E-CL plans to build.
The company may start developing the project at the beginning of 2014. It plans to install between 12 MW and 24 MW in the first year.
