The Dominican Republic’s national energy commission CNE has granted a definitive concession for the 50-MW/60-MWp Cumayasa I solar project to be installed in the province of La Romana.
CNE said on Monday it signed the concession contract with project company EFD Ecoener Fotovoltaica Dominicana SRL, a local unit of Spanish renewables company Grupo Ecoener SAU (BME:ENER). According to CNE’s archive, the concession is granted for a period of 25 years.
Cumayasa I is being built in the town of Villa Hermosa. CNE's executive director Edward Veras referred to a progress report indicating that the process is currently at 60%.
The Dominican Republic wants to cover 25% of the national demand with renewable energy by 2025 and 30% by 2030.
