Dhamma Energy sells 37-MW Mexican shovel-ready PV project to Balam Fund

Madrid-based solar developer Dhamma Energy today said it has sold a 37-MW ready-to-build solar project in Mexico to Balam Fund.

Dhamma Energy has developed the project under the self-consumption scheme and will remain involved until the plant is connected to the grid. Located in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi, the project is expected to break ground in the third quarter of 2018.

This is the first time Dhamma Energy has partnered with Balam Fund in Mexico. The solar developer says it has more than 1 GW of photovoltaic (PV) projects under development in Mexico, including more than 300 MW that have all the permits needed to start construction.

"We believe that there is a big potential for long term opportunities in the country. Mexico has implemented key reforms in the last years for the development of renewable energy," said Dhamma Energy co-founder Philippe Esposito.
