December 22 (Renewables Now) - The deadline for bids in Saba Electric Company NV’s tender for a solar power plant of at least 1 MW and battery storage of at least 1.5 MWh has been extended by a week.

The company, which supplies electricity on the Saba island in the Dutch Caribbean, will be accepting applications till January 18, 2018, instead of January 11 as previously announced.

Saba Electric seeks to award contracts for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the photovoltaic (PV) park, for the operation and maintenance (O&M) over 10 years, and for the battery storage system.

The solar EPC contractors should be “as creative as possible to generate as much electricity as possible, given the available space of the site”, the company said in the initial announcement. The addition of battery storage at Saba Electric's main generator power plant is in line with Saba's goal of being a sustainable island.
