Germany-based downstream solar firm Conergy has created an alliance with US photovoltaic (PV) trackers maker NEXTracker Inc to support solar developments in Latin America and the Caribbean.
In a statement on Thursday, Conergy said that the Latin America and Caribbean Solar Alliance (LACSA) will act as a sponsor for ongoing solar events focused on the particular region, underscoring practical knowledge from local experts at conferences, facilitating online knowledge and content sharing forums and conducting education and advocacy.
The alliance will have a nine-person board. Its first event took place in July at InterSolar North America and the next one will be held next week at SPI 2015 in California.
The LACSA announcement was made a bit more than a week after Conergy said it had won 60 MWp of solar projects in Brazil’s latest auction. Meanwhile, NEXTracker agreed to be bought by electronics production services provider Flextronics International Ltd (NASDAQ:FLEX) for up to USD 330 million (EUR 293m).
