The facility will generate 750 MWh per year and will require a BRL 5.5 million (USD 2.3m/EUR 1.8m) investment. The output of the facility, to be ready by June 2014, will be exclusively used for the needs of the stadium. Arena Fonte Nova is one of the Brazilian stadiums for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Also, Brazilian power holding company Neoenergia and local firm Odebrecht Energia are building a 1-MWp solar power installation at Arena Pernambuco stadium to require a BRL 10 million investment. The output of the unit, expected to be launched by September 30, will be used for the needs of the stadium. Arena Pernambuco, which is located in Recife, capital of Pernambuco state, is also one of the Brazilian stadiums for the 2014 World Cup.
