Clenergy gets mounting order for 100-MW Pakistani PV park

Aug 6, 2014 - China-based solar power equipment maker Clenergy said today it will deliver 40 MW of its mounting systems for a portion of a 100-MW photovoltaic (PV) plant in Pakistan’s Punjab province.

The company got the order as part of its partnership with Chinese PV maker and integrator TBEA Sun Oasis Co Ltd. The latter will provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the Quaid-i-Azam solar project. TBEA will also take on the operations and maintenance of the facility, once completed.

Clenergy and TBEA have worked together on a number of utility-scale solar projects since 2011, most of which in China’s northwest desert region. The Pakistani plant represents their first collaboration outside China, Clenergy noted.

The local government intends to expand the Quaid-i-Azam solar complex to 1 GW in the future. This is planned to help cure the 6-GW energy deficit in the country, the company said.
