Chile Samantha Solar seeks permit for 93-MW PV park
Chilean firm Samantha Solar SpA on Friday requested an environmental permit for construction of a 93.23-MW photovoltaic (PV) plant to help meet the increasing demand in the central power system.
The plant will consist of 295,963 PV modules in Tiltil, Metropolitan region of Santiago, with a substation and a 220-kV transmission line to the network. The project, worth a total USD 160 million (EUR 147.6m), will be developed in an area used for agriculture in the past, without protected species and archaeological remains, near centres of high energy consumption.
The company estimates it could start the construction in the first months of 2016 and complete test operation in the first half of 2017.
