September 28 (SeeNews) - Chilean company Ingenieria y Montajes Electricos SA (Imelsa) received environmental permits on Friday to build two photovoltaic (PV) power plants of combined 148 MW in Ovalle and Illapel, Coquimbo region.
The Dona Antonia project comprises 415,800 modules of 255 Wp each for a nominal capacity of 100 MW north of Ovalle city, while Illapel will generate 48 MW in the El Maiten-Bellavista area, near the city of Illapel, with 176,400 modules of 300 Wp.
The projects will require USD 225 million (EUR 201m), including transmission facilities for connection with the country's central grid SIC, while the construction is expected to take 11 and nine months, respectively, for the two plants.
In May, Imelsa secured an environmental permit for a 40-MW solar park in the Valparaiso region.
