Chile Fotones files environmental declaration for 90-MW solar plant
Jul 18, 2012 - Chilean alternative energy developer Energias Renovables Fotones de Chile Ltda filed yesterday an environmental impact declaration for the construction of а 90-MW PV solar power plant in Diego de Almagro, northern Atacama region.
The plant, dubbed Diego de Almagro, will be developed in six phases, each providing 15 MW. The facility will have 1.224 million PV modules.
Besides the solar plant, the USD-187-million (EUR 152.3m) project also includes a power substation and 110 KV transmission line which will connect the plant to Chile's central power grid SIC.
The declaration will be analysed by the regulatory bodies by October 16, 2012.
