Cemig to hold auction for wind, solar power contracts in May

April 17 (Renewables Now) - Brazilian utility Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais SA (BVMF:CMIG4), better known as Cemig, plans to hold a energy auction to contract wind and solar power on May 16, 2018.

The amount of energy Cemig is seeking and the price cap have not been disclosed yet.

The tender is aimed at contracting enough electricity to meet the demand in the Southeast, Midwest, South and Northeast markets.

Through a notice published on its website, the company confirmed that the auction will award power purchase agreements (PPA) from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2041.

 The tender is open to companies that, among other requirements, had their projects qualified in the auction A-4 of 2018.

The interested parties have until May 4, 2018 to register with Cemig. All the details can be found on the company's tender website.
