(SeeNews) - Nov 26, 2013 - The government of the northeastern Brazilian state Pernambuco set at BRL 250 (USD 109.2/EUR 80.7) per MWh the electricity prices of its first auction for the sale and purchase of solar energy.<br /> Also, the government scheduled the auction for December 20, 2013 after it introduced some changes in the decree for the bidding. The auction was previously intended to take place in February 2014.<br /> In accordance with the new bidding rules, interested bidders should register for participation until 1200 local time on December 13.<br /> The power supply contracts to be signed following the tender foresee start of deliveries on July 1, 2015 for a 20-year period.<br /> The government targets to contract at least 12 average MW (MWa). The initiative forms part of the local government's programme PE Sustentavel, aimed at promoting solar energy development in the state. The programme foresees similar auctions in the next three years and tax incentives for Pernambuco's companies which buy solar power.
