Brazil's Fotowatio to install 30-MW solar farm in Ceara

Brazilian company Fotowatio do Brasil Projetos e Energias Renovaveis III Ltda last week presented plans for a 29.66-MW photovoltaic (PV) project to the Banabuiu community, Ceara state.

The solar park will consist of 117,000 modules installed on 116.13 ha (249 acres) of land. They will have the combined capacity to generate enough power for 41,600 local homes. The developer has a preliminary license for the project and has requested approval to start works on the plant.

Isabel Oliveira, a representative for Ampla Engenharia, the consultancy responsible for preparing the Environmental Impact Assessment and its corresponding report (EIA/RIMA), explained that the municipality of Banabuiu was chosen for the installation because it has appropriate environmental conditions, good solar potential and connection to the electrical system for the distribution of energy.

A meeting was held by the state's superintendency of environment Semace to discuss project-related questions from the community.
