November 7 (Renewables Now) - Brazilian power utility Copel (BVMF:CPLE6) launched on Tuesday a map of the areas suitable for solar park installations in the state of Parana.

The new atlas presents an overview of the solar power generation potential, showing solar radiation throughout all areas of the state and during any time of the year. The complete map can be found here.

With an investment of BRL 550,000 (USD 146,000/EUR 128,000), the new atlas is expected to not only encourage the generation of clean and renewable energy for commercial investors but also to residential consumers, by making it easy to determine the solar potential of such projects within a specific area.

Photovoltaic (PV) power generation in the country has already reached 1 GW, according to research released by the Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy, the Absolar, the local government stated.
