Brazil's Ceara okays 850 MW of wind, solar projects
The state council on the environment of the Brazilian state of Ceara (Coema) approved last week 849.9 MW of wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) projects.
One of the projects is the 439.9-MW Complexo Fenix wind power complex proposed by local company Rio Energy Desenvolvimento de Renovaveis SA. As part of it, the cities of Amontada and Itapipoca will see 83 5.3-MW turbines installed in the area at 12 wind farms.
The second scheme okayed by Coema on Thursday is the 410-MW Serra Dantas PV complex, from Dantas Geracao de Energia Eletrica SPE LTDA, and presented to the local officials by Inova Energy.
Serra Dantas will cover a 1,026.24-hectares (253,589.4 acres) area in the municipality of Jaguaruana. The approved project also includes a 230-kV transmission line with a length of 7.78-km (4.83 miles), the environmental agency noted.
