Brazil's Ceara launches wind, solar power atlas

December 16 (Renewables Now) - Brazil's Ceara state launched on Friday a wind and solar atlas that highlighting areas with investment potential.

The new atlas, the first to combine both sources in the country, required BRL 1.4 million (USD 341,000/EUR 306,000) in total investments. It satisfies a request by the state Development Agency's (Adece) Renewable Energy Sectorial Chamber, the government said.

With technical information directed to industry professionals, the atlas is available in English and Portuguese, both in print and online, as well as in an interactive app developed by the Cearense Foundation of Meteorology and Water Resources (Funceme). Recently, Ceara's state council on the environment, Coema, gave its environmental approval for the 278-MW Alex Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Complex.
