Brazil's Aneel receives independent producer requests for five solar plants
Nov 27, 2013 - Brazilian energy sector watchdog Aneel received requests for independent producer licences for five PV solar power plants of local renewable energy developer ARM Energia e Servicos de Engenharia Ltda, according to decrees published in the State Gazette yesterday.
Requests seek permits for the plants Boqueirao Solar I, II, III, IV and V, each with capacity of 10 MW, and also for their adjacent transmission systems. The five facilities are located in Camocim municipality, northeastern Ceara state.
Independent power producers are able to sell their surplus energy and distribute energy to large consumers, paying concessionaires for the use of transmission lines. The main difference between independent producers and concessionaires in Brazil is that the first operate at their own risk.
