Brazil's Alsol adds 26 MWp of Minas Gerais solar DG in 2020

Alsol pv plant in Brazil's Minas Gerais state

November 18 (Renewables Now) - Brazilian distributed generation (DG) firm Alsol Energias Renovaveis SA has put into operation two new solar parks capable of meeting the consumption of 6,000 local homes in Minas Gerais state.

Consisting of 6,480 photovoltaic (PV) panels each, the solar farms are located in the municipality of Irai de Minas, the state government announced on Monday.

In addition to the new PV plants, Alsol put four other parks into operation in the state this year. In all, the firm invested around BRL 100 million (USD 18.7m/EUR 15.8m) in the six PV facilities, according to the announcement.

Together, the six solar farms have a generation capacity of approximately 26 MWp, enough to supply the electrical needs of 26,000 households and be able to offset 2,930 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year.
