Brazilian telecommunications company TIM Participacoes SA (BVMF:TIMS3) has launched a Request for Qualifications (RfQ) to contract 14 GWh per month of renewable energy.
The company is looking to purchase wind, solar, hydro and biomass distributed generation (DG) projects from all over the country. The telecom plans to supply approximately 7,000 of its antennas and stores across 11 states.
TIM did not inform the estimated budget for the purchases.
At present, the Brazilian telecom is targeting to have 90% of its energy demand met by renewable power plants by 2025. The company has a total of 34 solar, hydro and biogas plants in operation.
TIM estimates it will close 2022 with 60 operational parks, thus producing enough clean energy to monthly power a city with 150,000 inhabitants, the firm's Chief Business Services Officer (CBSO), Bruno Gentil, said.
