Brazil Renova may offer 195-MW solar project at Oct auction
Aug 28, 2014 - Brazilian renewable energy company Renova Energia (BVMF:RNEW11) mulls over presenting a 195.2-MW solar project in Bahia state at the government's reserve energy auction on October 31, investor relations manager Pedro Pileggi said Wednesday.
Renova's participation in the auction will depend on the ceiling price to be determined by the government. Pileggi anticipates a price of around BRL 240 (USD 106.8/EUR 80.9) per MWh.
The auction will show the scale of solar power projects and could attract equipment manufacturers to establish production facilities in Brazil. The country still needs a programme for contracting solar energy to stimulate the development of a local industry, the official said.
