Brazil registers 51.2 GW of renewables for Jun 28 tender

April 8 (Renewables Now) - Brazil's state-owned energy research firm EPE unveiled on Friday that 51,204 MW of renewable energy projects have been registered for the next auction that will be held on June 28, 2019.

Dubbed A-4, the auction will contract hydro, wind, solar and biomass power projects. Overall, 1,581 energy projects will compete for contracts.

In Brazil, hydropower plants (HPP) are divided into three groups depending on their capacity. UHE, with capacity exceeding 30 MW, PCH, between 1 MW and 30 MW, and CGH of up to 1 MW.

This tender, previously scheduled for June 27, will award power purchase agreements (PPAs) that will become effective on January 1, 2023, EPE noted.
