Brazil's Ministry of Mines and Energy announced on Wednesday the guidelines for the new energy auction to be held on September 30.
Through a decree published in the Official Gazette, the government confirmed that the auction, dubbed as A-5, will contract hydro, wind, solar, biomass, coal, natural gas and solid urban waste power projects.
This tender will award power purchase agreements (PPA) with a 15-year term for wind and solar, a 25-year term for hydropower and a 20-year term for the remaining sources. Power supply is scheduled to begin on January 1, 2026.
Investors and interested parties can submit projects for registration by June 2, with the exception of hydropower schemes with capacity greater than 50 MW, the deadline for which is May 10.
According to the ministry, renewable schemes that have already been technically qualified for the A-3 and A-4 auctions, and remain unchanged, are allowed to re-enter the tender.
