Brazil okays 429 MW of winning projects from Oct 18 auction

January 21 (Renewables Now) - Brazil's power sector regulator Aneel approved on Monday 429 MW of winning projects from the A-6 energy auction held on October 18, 2019.

In all, 13 power plants relying on wind, biomass, hydro and natural gas received Aneel's green light. The tender awarded contracts with power purchase agreements (PPA) scheduled to commence on January 1, 2025.

Last week, Aneel approved the first 58 schemes from a total of 91, for about 1,162 MW of combined capacity. The tender contracted more than 250.14 million MWh of power at an average price of BRL 176.09 per MWh (USD 42/EUR 37.8), Aneel noted.
