Brazil defines physical guarantee at 5-MW Terra do Sol IX PV solar plant
Nov 18, 2013 - Brazilian mines and energy ministry issued a decree defining the physical guarantee of 0.9 average MW (MWа) at the 5-MW Terra do Sol IX PV solar power plant, located in the northeastern Bahia state.
The facility, which is owned by local renewable energy producer Bioenergy Geradora de Energia, will be one of the 429 projects with a combined capacity of 10,460 MW to be auctioned later today at the government's A-3 auction. A total of 31 solar projects, of 813 MW capacity, will be offered today.
The ceiling price for all power sources at A-3 was set at BRL 126 (USD 54/EUR 40) per MWh. The 429 projects are located in 12 Brazilian state, with Bahia state having the bulk of 107 projects -- 105 wind plants with 2,604 MW, and 12 PV solar plants of 309 MW capacity.
The projects to be offered at the government's auction will have to start supplying electricity as of 2016. (BRL 1.0 = USD 0.432/EUR 0.320)
