Veolia kicks-off construction of biomass-fired steam plant in Brazil
Jun 24, 2022 9:03 CESTJanuary 26 (Renewables Now) - Brazil's power sector regulator Aneel approved on Tuesday roughly 860.8 MW of projects that were successful in the A-5 tender held on September 30, 2021.
Approvals have been given to 40 renewable energy projects that will use wind, solar, hydro and thermal plants using biomass and solid urban waste as fuel. The tender awarded power purchase agreements (PPA) to projects that will commence supply on January 1, 2026.

Contracts for hydropower come with a 25-year term, while that for wind and solar is 15 years. Thermal biomass and solid waste plants are being contracted for 20 years.
In all, the tender contracted more than 25.14 million MWh of power at an average price of BRL 238.37 per MWh (USD 43.3/EUR 38.4).
