Brazil Aneel receives requests for two 30-MW PV plants

(SeeNews) - Jan 28, 2013 - Brazilian energy sector watchdog Aneel has received requests for the installation of two photovoltaic (PV) solar plants with installed capacity of 30 MW each, local energy news provider CanalEnergia said on Friday.
The projects, dubbed UFV Luis Eduardo Magalhaes and UFV Mombaca, are planned to be built in northeastern Bahia and Ceara states, respectively.
The undertakings are intended to act as independent power producers.
According to the law, filing a request for authorisation with Aneel is the first step of the process through which the undertaker may initiate consultation with Brazil's National Electricity System Operator (ONS) and the respective energy distributors for access to the grid. The authorisation request is also necessary for the start of the environmental licensing of the planned facility.
