Brazil Aneel receives requests for 120 MW in PV plants
Dec 10, 2012 - Brazilian energy sector watchdog Aneel has received a request for the installation of four photovoltaic (PV) solar plants with combined capacity of 120 MW, local energy news provider CanalEnergia reported on Friday citing the State Gazette.
Three of the projects are planned to be built in southeastern Minas Gerais state, while the fourth is set to be located in northeastern Pernambuco state.
The ventures are intended to act as independent energy producers.
By law, filing a request for authorisation with Aneel is the first step of the process through which the undertaker may initiate consultation with Brazil's National Electricity System Operator (ONS) and the respective energy distributors for access to the grid. The authorisation request is also necessary for the start of the environmental licencing of the planned facility.
