Colombia’s national grid operator XM Compania de Expertos en Mercados on Wednesday released a list of 61 companies that have been pre-qualified to participate in the country’s third renewable energy auction on October 26.
The final number of bidders was pruned from 107 names seeking pre-qualification, after 61 participants met the requirements for this stage of the auction process, including submitting a bid security, according to the Colombian ministry of mines and energy.
In the pre-qualified group are 44 off-takers and 17 power sellers representing 29 renewable energy projects, the ministry said.
Enel Green Power, EDF Renewables, Canadian Solar Inc (NASDAQ:CSIQ) and Empresas Publicas de Medellin ESP (EPM) are among those cleared to bid as sellers of electricity from their projects.
In the off-taker group are Colombian regional utility Air-e and power retailer Renovatio Trading Americas SAS ESP, both of which are organising their own renewable energy auctions.
Emgesa SA ESP, Codensa SA ESP, both in the Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) family, and EPM will also bid as off-takers.
