Austria's CCE cuts ribbon at 87-MWp solar farm in Chile

Austria-based solar developer CCE Group GmbH has inaugurated the 87-MWp La Huella solar farm in Chile, its first such project in the South American country.

The initiative involved an investment of over USD 70 million (EUR 62m), said the Chilean energy ministry, whose representatives attended the inauguration.

The solar farm spreads over a 140-hectare (345.9 acres) area in La Higuera, a commune in the Chilean region of Coquimbo. It is equipped with 214,704 PV modules mounted on solar trackers, which will enable the plant to inject some 220 GWh per year into the SEN grid system, the ministry said.

CCE Group finds Chile to be its key market, and is open to investing in three other PV projects in the country, according to the ministry's press release.
