Atlas Renewable Energy inks solar PPA in Chile with Engie

August 15 (Renewables Now) - Atlas Renewable Energy has entered into a long-term contract for the sale of power generated by a new 230-MW solar park in Chile to the local unit of France’s Engie SA (EPA:ENGI).

Under the terms of the contract, Atlas, part of London-based private equity investor Actis, will supply 550 GWh of electricity per year to Engie Energia Chile over a period of 15 years. The power will come from the Sol del Desierto plant that will be built in the municipality of Maria Elena, Antofagasta region. The solar park will have a capacity of at least 230 MW and is expected to begin operations in January 2022.

The power purchase agreement (PPA) is subject to financial closure and construction of the Sol del Desierto facility.

At present, Atlas has about 800 MW of operating solar parks in Uruguay, Chile, Brazil and Mexico. Its contracted pipeline in Latin America exceeds 1,400 MW.
