US trackers maker Array Technologies, Inc. (ATI) and German renewable energy company BayWa r.e. have entered into a master supply agreement for over one gigawatt of solar photovoltaic (PV) trackers for delivery to projects in the United States and Mexico.
The agreement would allow BayWa to source local content for about 70% of its projects in Mexico.
“ATI’s approach of supporting local communities aligns with BayWa ’s commitment to using local resources for project realization, making the alliance a natural fit,” said Jam Attari, CEO, BayWa r.e. Solar Projects LLC.
The projects will feature ATI’s DuraTrack HZ v3. single-axis tracker, specially built to help lower the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) for solar power. According to the producer, this tracking system is designed for utility-scale efficiency and boasts a 6% power density advantage as well as zero scheduled maintenance over the 30-year life of the product.
Headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Array Technologies ranked second in IHS' North American PV tracker rankings for 2015 in terms of MWdc shipments. Over the past seven years, the company has shipped and installed over 5 GW of utility, commercial and residential solar electric generation systems across the globe.
