September 11 (Renewables Now) - Argentine company DIASER SA commenced the operations of a 22-MW installed capacity solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in San Luis province.

The Paraje La Cumbre solar farm, as it is named, required an investment of nearly USD 28.6 million (EUR 24.68m), Argentina's Ministry of Energy and Mines' Undersecretariat for Renewable Energy announced on Monday.

Comprised of over 82,000 solar panels supplied by Chinese solar manufacturer JinkoSolar Holding Co Ltd (NYSE:JKS), the Paraje La Cumbre PV facility should be able to meet the demand of 13,575 local homes.

Together with French renewables developer Total Eren's 30-MWp (24.75 MW) solar plant inaugurated earlier in the day, those are the first solar parks to begin operation from the country's renewable energy auction programme RenovAr. Together, these plants have a combined installed capacity of 46.75 MW, capable of powering 30,000 households in San Luis province, the undersecretariat noted.
