Argentina signs 300 MW of RenovAr solar power contracts

October 23 (Renewables Now) - Argentina has signed contracts with three of the solar power projects that were selected in round 2 of the RenovAr renewable energy auction programme.

The La Pirka, Ullum X and Verano Capital Solar One photovoltaic (PV) projects, each with an installed capacity of 100 MW, have signed their power purchase agreements (PPAs), developer - Verano Capital, announced last week.

Located in the provinces of Catamarca and San Juan, the La Pirka and Ullum X projects are being developed by Latinoamericana de Energia SA. The third plant, to be implemented in the Mendoze province, will be managed by Verano Capital.

Sixty eight, out of  the 88 winning projects in the tender, have already signed contracts with Argentina's wholesale electric market management company CAMMESA, which represents a combined capacity of 1,608 MW, out of 2,043 MW awarded.
