Argentina launches 3rd round of RenovAr aiming at 400 MW

November 16 (Renewables Now) - Argentina launched on Thursday the third round of its RenovAr renewable energy auction programme, aiming at a total of 400 MW of new installed capacity.

This time the government is focusing on the regional development of the country and on medium-scale projects, with a maximum capacity of 10 MW and a minimum of 0.5 MW. The third round is dubbed MiniRen.

There will be a maximum quota of 20 MW for each province, except for Buenos Aires, where the limit will be 60 MW. The government stressed that proposals for expansion of existing plants are not allowed in this round.

Offers should be presented on March 27, 2019 and the winners of power purchase agreements (PPAs) will be announced on May 17. The signing of power purchase agreements (PPAs) will take place between May 20 and November 8, 2019, the government noted.
