Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Abu Dhabi-based Strata Manufacturing will partner with Belgian mechanical engineering company John Cockerill to jointly produce electrolysers in the UAE to support the development of a hydrogen economy in the Emirates.
The three companies signed a strategic collaboration agreement at the Make it in the Emirates forum in Abu Dhabi on Thursday. The alliance is supported by UAE's Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT).

“Led by ADNOC, this strategic cooperation agreement strengthens our industrial sector and provides the necessary capabilities for future industries to thrive. The agreement will be particularly beneficial to the field of hydrogen, which represents one of the most important future industries and underpins a greener economy,” said the ministry's undersecretary Omar Al Suwaidi.
Details about the planned manufacturing capacity were not disclosed.
The collaboration involves two local companies that could play a major role in the development of the hydrogen economy in the UAE. ADNOC is an early mover in the production of clean hydrogen and is a shareholder in Abu Dhabi's renewables major Masdar which aims to produce up to 1 million tons of green hydrogen by 2030 while Strata specialises in manufacturing composite aerostructures and is owned by Emirati sovereign wealth fund Mubadala.
