ACWA Power-led tie-up inks PPA for 160-MW CSP park in Morocco
Nov 20, 2012 - A consortium led by ACWA Power has secured a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 160-MW concentrated solar power (CSP) project in Morocco, the Saudi energy developer said Tuesday.
The consortium, which also includes Spanish engineering firms Aries Ingenieria Y Sistemas SA and TSK Electronica y Electricidad SA, signed the 25-year PPA for the USD-1-billion (EUR 781m) Ouarzazate CSP plant with the Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (MASEN).
The plant will be capable of storing thermal energy for up to three hours. It will be the first element of Morocco's Ouarzazate Solar Complex that is designed as a solar park using various solar technologies with a total capacity of 500 MW.
A consortium of TSK Electronica y Electricidad, Acciona Infrastructuras, Acciona Ingeniería, and Sener Ingenieria y Sistemas has been chosen as the EPC contractor, while ACWA Power's subsidiary NOMAC is to provide operation and maintenance services for the project.
