Capital Energy, GRI Towers Sevilla to partner on wind power equipment in Spain
Aug 18, 2022 14:57 CESTJuly 23 (Renewables Now) – Corporacion Acciona Energias Renovables SA (BME:ANE), better known as Acciona Energia, has commissioned the 238-MWp Malgarida solar photovoltaic (PV) complex in Chile.
The company’s parent, Spanish group Acciona SA (BME:ANA), said on Thursday the project required an investment of USD 170 million (EUR 144.3m). Comprised of Malgarida I and II, the PV complex joins six other operational parks owned by the company in Chile.
Spanning 535 hectares (1,322 acres) in the Atacama desert, the Malgarida complex uses 580,000 panels mounted on horizontal trackers. It is capable of generating some 654 GWh of power annually, enough to meet the consumption of 280,000 Chilean households each year, Acciona added.
Acciona's operational Chilean portfolio of three wind parks and five PV plants, including the Malgarida complex, has a total combined capacity of 922 MW. The company also has a growing portfolio of corporate off-takers, among which are Google, Movistar Chile and LATAM Airlines Group.
