YTL develops 500-MW solar-powered data centre campus in Malaysia

April 21 (Renewables Now) - The digital infrastructure subsidiary of multi-utility group YTL Power International Bhd (KLSE:YTLPOWR) is developing a 500-MW data centre campus in Malaysia that will run solely on solar power.

YTL Data Center Holdings Pte Ltd (YTL DC) is building the YTL Green Data Center Park on a large industrial site located 30 km from Singapore in the Iskandar region of Johor.

The firm said in a statement that works have already been initiated on the first 72-MW data centre within the campus. It is expected to enter into service by the first quarter of 2024.

YTL DC’s future plans include the development of similar data centre campuses across Southeast Asian nations like Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam, according to the announcement.
